#americanmonsters

An ongoing project since March, 2017, the #americanmonsters project started as my college thesis project, the focus of which was to portray American cryptids in ways they haven’t been seen in before. It borrows influence from the German schützenscheibe (shooting discs) which include forest imagery or wild animals hand painted on the wooden circles, and are used as a target for hunting clubs.

The project has since become a more in-depth story featuring a vegan, graphic designing sasquatch named Tilla Zheng-Silva, who with the help of the Mothman, Michigan Dogman, and a wendigo, tours the U.S. with his adopted human parents Instagraming cryptids to create hype for their latest cryptozoology book. The story itself will be told through Instagram with images taken by “Tilla”, documenting the travels and adventures of the group.
